The Grand Island sits in the middle of Cross Lake, a quiet, mature body of water on the western edge of Shreveport. The island can only be reached by boat, which gives every visit a sense of distance and occasion.
Cypress trees line the shore. The water moves gently. The light at sunset is, by reputation, unlike anywhere else in the region.
